Monday -- a new week, and a new town. Driving to Vik, I pass the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano (pictured) that erupted in 2010, disrupting air traffic all over Europe. It's covered in a permanent ice cap -- and volcanoes mixed with ice or water create much more ash when they erupt, apparently. It's too cloudy today to see much -- so on to the nearby Seljalandsfoss waterfall.

The Seljalandsfoss waterfall and the adjacent Gljúfrabúi waterfall (just a short walk down the same path) are popular destinations. No hikes here, but various walking paths provide nice views at and around the falls. There are lots of waterfalls around the coast, so a short visit here is plenty -- there will be more later.
