The next stop is the nearby Dyrhólaey Nature Preserve (although really just a public bathroom with a short walking path and a nice view of the ocean). It's getting late in the day, and the icy wind & rain here makes it feel colder than usual.

This is a nice scenic overlook if you have 15 minutes. I take a few pictures and drive to Vik for dinner. Many of the town names end in 'vik' (like Reykjavik, Keflavik, Húsavík, etc.), and a local tells us that 'vik' means 'bay' -- which makes sense since most of the towns are located near or on a bay. 'Vikings' roughly translates to 'people from the bay' -- and there's always fresh seafood at the restaurants.
